Are we unforgiving jerks?

Fox news commentator Brit Hume seems to think Buddhism is inferior to Christianity in its capacity to offer forgiveness to Tiger Woods. Rev. Danny has a rundown of reactions to Hume. Here's the clip, h/t Sunspace:

Outrageous
Infuriating. Especially considering I just read in the NY Times about American evangelical Christians using their "forgiving" teachings to support the state-sanctioned murder of gays and lesbians in Uganda.

re; outrageous
Not to mention completely uninformed and stupid since there is no forgiveness in Buddhism, just moving on. Make the cause, get the effect, get on with your life.
Wonder what kind of Buddhist he is?

Hume vs Hume
David Hume:
iconoclastic philosopher and at one time the most interesting man in the world.
Brit Hume;
no relationship.

Ghandi, King, Tiger
Tiger's mother is from Thailand and a Buddhist, so probably Theravada, if he practices it at all. I love the quotes in this article: http://www.slate.com/id/86898/

My faith can beat up your faith
I like this person's take on it:

http://thornscompose.wordpress...

There's nothing wrong with declaring one religion superior to another. Nichiren did it all the time.

Christianity
It has been so interesting to watch this discussion on various websites and see/read Christian reactions. It's as if Christianity has been preoccupied denigrating other religions such as Islam and Wicca, and just plain forgot about Buddhism. It's like we suddenly appeared on their "threat" radar.

It's also interesting to see Buddhists set aside their internecine disputes for a time to argue concertedly with Christians. No specific links. Sorry. Just my general take on this media tempest in a teapot.

Hummus
I was thinking that logically Hume should also castigate Bernard Madoff into converting from Judaism to Christianity seeking forgiveness from his swindler ways. I bet that would go over well.
