One faith to rule them all

I'm one of many, many Nichiren Buddhists who believes that religion has no place in government. Alas, Soka Gakkai has a different idea. They promote the merging of faith and politics, especially in Japan through support of the Komeito political party. Japan Probe has this to say:

The grassroots activities of Komeito's supporters resemble the acts of fanatical religious missionaries, and frankly it makes it hard for me to see the "political" party's existence as a good thing. While the Komeito's current official party platform doesn't contain anything about turning Japan into a theocracy, it is worrisome to see a party that relies so heavily on the support of a single religious sect and its believers.

i agree. Also, check out the comments on that page.

theocracy in Japan, yeah right!
"They promote the merging of faith and politics"
Just like the Republicans have done in the U.S. for the past thirty years. Japan is probably one of the least religious countries on earth while the U.S. is one of the most religious. If there ia going to be a theocracy installed in either my bet is on the U.S. I noticed that most of the contributors to Japan Probe are Americans.

I had a dream
No mixing of faith and politics, no Martin Luther King Jr. Of course that would have spared us the GKI exhibit. :)

unitended consequences?
No Ghandi, no Protestants because no Church of England, no Nichiren, but at least "under God" gets removed from the Pledge of Allegiance.
